The new square, as a pilot project for the development of the master plan, aims to rehabilitate the image of the entire district and create a new identity. The purpose of the project is to create a sense of collective identity (a new strong community) by incorporating structures and elements of urban furniture, immediately recognisable, favouring also the aesthetic and evocative aspects, and capable to enhance the beauty of the new square.
To foster identity, new icons and landmarks are designed in strategic points of the plot. All these elements of urban regeneration will become a source of pride for the people and trigger among them a sense of responsibility and protection of their collective public space, enhancing a feeling of unity, sharing and belonging. The preferred use of natural materials such as local stone, water and vegetation inside the square contributes to convey a harmonious and evocative appearance to the public space, reinterpreting the beauty of the northern landscape in an urban alphabet.

Recupero edilizio di un casa in pietra
Roncofreddo (FC), Italia
2020/2021

The refurbishment of a poor, badly preserved and deteriorated farmerm house is a great opportunity. There is the chance to operate with a construction built mostly "by hand" by the old inhabitants.
Today this takes on not only a testimonial value but also an important and tangible emotional feature during all the work on site. The building is the memory of the place, and preserves its traces and signs. The building recovery must interpret this nature, learn the rules through which the building was constructed, and solve the problems that a young family may have in rethinking a new life in a rural context.
A complex process was put in place and shared with customers. We have complied to all the essential recovery and requalification needs, always keeping costs under control. Several recovery interventions were carried out: the foundations reinforcement to solve the rising damp and subsidence problems, the restoration of the ground floor with the construction of a new ventilated and insulated floor, and the recovery of the walls with restoration and reconnection of deteriorated masonry.
The energy requalification was done with insulation in the night area and in the attic, and with new windows to have more comfort indoor and a remarkable consumption reduction. The high temperature heating system consist in a heat pump whose energy is obtained from a 14 Kw photovoltaic system with 13 Kw of storage batteries that allow an esteemed autonomy equal to 75-80% of the annual requirement.
